A Day Full of Sparks—Literally

When Liberty High School in Bealeton, VA hosted their Fall Media Day, we knew it was going to be a big one. What we didn’t expect was just how creatively bold these athletes would be. From the very first setup, they came ready to bring their A-game: poses with purpose, fierce facial expressions, and patriotic pride.

We set the stage with pro-level lighting, smoke machines, color gels, and in some cases, real fire. Each student-athlete took full ownership of their time in front of the camera, creating portraits that were equal parts art and intensity.

Football, Volleyball, and Cheer—United by Spirit

No matter the sport, every athlete radiated confidence and pride. The volleyball players showed poise and strength, the football team brought fire (literally and figuratively), and the cheerleaders? Absolute queens of attitude and style.

What made it truly moving was how many wanted to pose with the American flag. It added an unmistakable tone of unity and patriotism that felt completely genuine. These students weren’t just repping their teams; they were repping something bigger.

As a photographer, days like this are gold. The energy was contagious, the ideas were flowing, and the athletes were fearless. I walked away feeling grateful and inspired by their creativity, enthusiasm, and trust. These kinds of sessions are exactly why I love being a sportrait photographer in Northern Virginia.
